I've decided to share a couple of methods I use to find directories to add my website on. I know many of you should know that methods but anyway I hope they can help the others. 1. Find similarities between the directories: - It's known that there are many scripts on the web that help you build your website for free. The most used are "php link directory" and "free php directory script", lets call them A and B - Both A and B have a bottom line with a descriptive link to their principal website. A="php link directory", B="powered by free php directory script" -The A directory submission page URL ends with "submit.php" and it has a combo list with all the categories listed on it. (google can't see within that combo list but MSN can) - The B directory should maybe have the word "directory" in its title and the category you're looking in the text, title or URL. 2. Searching for directories... What if I want to find A LOT of directories with the category.. i.e. "search engine optimization"? 2.1 Searching for A directories: Do the search in MSN for: inurl:"search engine optimization" +submit.php + "php link directory" (why "search engine optimization" +submit.php + "php link directory" AND NOT "submit.php + "php link directory" + "search engine optimization"??. Because you want the results ordered mainly by their relevancy to the term "Search engine optimization). You will get about a thousand results all of them leave you right to the submission page!. You must now check if the page where your link is going to be and submit it. 2.2 Searching for B Directories: Do the search in Google for: "Powered by Free PHP Directory Script" AND intitle:directory AND intitle:SEO (thats for a few really relevant results, but you can be missing a lot of directories here, so I recommend trying with variants of this search phrase). You will find about a hundred more directories to submit your SEO website to. 3. Organize your database Build a complete database of the directories you find, to use as a reference for future submissions. You should consider the URL, the name, if reciprocal or not, paid or not, and the exact category you submitted your website too. 4. Use Roboform or Clipboard Magic when submitting There are two tools I know that will help you save a lot (and I mean A LOT) of time when submitting to directories. Roboform is a software that allow you to fill forms with just one click. Clipboard Magic is a copy & paste software. They both are very useful tho.
